Descriptionof Work
This position supports the design and delivery of maintenance resurfacing and transportation improvement projects while guiding the work of design teams and consultant partners. It also ensures that engineering standards, schedules, and budgets are met throughout project development.
- Project Design Review:
Analyze engineering designs, plans, and calculations for accuracy and conformance with project requirements. - Team Leadership:
Guide designers and technicians while providing technical direction and evaluating work quality. - Resource Coordination:
Oversee in‑house and consultant resources to keep project schedules and budgets on track. - Stakeholder Communication:
Work with municipalities, utilities, and public partners to support effective project coordination. - Quality Assurance:
Review and certify Plans, Specifications, and Estimate packages and ensure compliance with laws, policies, safety criteria, and technical standards. - Project Management:
Manage multiple complex highway projects from early planning through project letting to ensure quality and on‑time delivery.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours:
7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. - Telework:
Opportunity to work from home part‑time, up to 3 days per week, if a secure high‑speed internet connection is available and the work site is within Pennsylvania. Telework may change at any time. - Salary:
Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.
- Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty with an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty with an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
- Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Pennsylvania law (51 Pa. C.S. § 7103) provides employment preference for qualified veterans for appointment to many state and local government jobs.
