Why this role existsAwell sits in the middle of messy, high-stakes healthcare workflows. This role exists to take real customer pain, turn it into product, and ship solutions that stick, without creating bespoke debt or false leverage.
What you’ll ownBuild across the stack (Type Script, frontend + backend) with a bias toward beautiful and reusable systems
.
Stay outside the cave
: work from what customers do, pay for, and elevate.
Move with velocity and direction
: short cycles, tight scopes, fast learning.
Hold a Swiss-watch quality bar
: if it’s brittle, slow, or confusing, it’s not done.
Make and document tradeoffs; one-offs are a conscious, justified choice.
What we expectStrong React, Next, JS/Type Script fundamentals and product engineering taste.
Proven independent delivery on real customer or enterprise problems.
Comfort owning decisions, saying “no,” and protecting leverage.
Clear communication with stakeholders (internal & external).
Bias toward invalidating assumptions over defending ideas.
Bonus (not required)Experience with workflow engines, data-rich systems, or enterprise SaaS.
Open-source or visible technical work.
This role is not for you ifYou want clear guardrails and tickets instead of ownership.
You optimize for novelty over outcomes.
You build one-offs and call them progress.
Customer outcomes are the only scoreboard. It’s on us.
At AwellWe expect you to hold narrative, technical truth, and execution - not because it’s easy, but because that’s how leverage is created. Product Engineers are how we win with 1/100th the headcount.
Awell is a workflow-orchestration platform, and is by itself not intended to diagnose, treat or make patient-specific clinical decisions.
All clinical content and logic are created and governed by your care organization.
