What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking an R&D Laboratory Support Technologist to join our team in conducting advanced research on optical and electrical characterization of semiconductor materials and devices. Are you passionate about exploring the properties of semiconductors and ensuring the highest safety standards in a laboratory environment? If so, this position offers you the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology to perform optical and electrical material and device evaluation, thereby contributing to the development of innovative semiconductor solutions.

Your work will play a crucial role in enhancing our understanding of device performance and reliability.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

* Collaborate with technical staff to perform optical characterization using photoluminescence and other methods.

* Conduct electrical characterization of semiconductor devices.

* Maintain and update safety documentation to ensure compliance with laboratory standards.

* Develop and refine standard operating procedures for characterization techniques.

* Support general lab operations tasks (e.g., keeping supplies stocked, maintaining test capabilities).

* Analyze data and present findings in reports and at technical meetings.

Due to the nature of this work the selected applicant would need to work onsite.

Salary Range

$74,700 - $144,400

* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

* Associates degree in a relevant field, or 4 years of equivalent demonstrated experience.

* Experience with electrical characterization methods for semiconductor devices.

Qualifications We Desire

* Experience with laser systems (continuous wave (CW) and pulsed), optical measurement equipment, and optical table configurations.

* Experience with photoluminescence characterization methods.

* Familiarity with on-wafer probe stations and the Keysight B1505A parameter analyzer.

* Proficiency in data analysis and control software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW).

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members and independently with minimal supervision.

* Proven capability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks.

* Ability to become certified in pressure system installation and maintenance as well as electrical equipment assessment and certification.

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safety standards.

* Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team environment.

* Ability and interest to participate in technical discussions with scientists and engineers to solve complex problems.

About Our Team

The Semiconductor Material and Device Sciences Department (1873) is engaged in compound semiconductor physics and device research, with parallel and complementary efforts in fundamental science and novel device technologies, within the Center for Material, Physical, and Chemical Sciences (1800). One of several current focus areas is III-Nitride based materials and devices for power electronics and other applications, which has enormous short- and long-term potential for Sandia
¿ s national security missions. Other ongoing efforts include radiation effects, reliability physics, defect spectroscopy, and magnetic materials. The department's research utilizes staff expertise in experimental and theoretical semiconductor physics, state-of-the-art micro- and nano-fabrication, and advanced materials and device characterization and modeling.
