Job Description Summary

The Aeroderivative Performance & Operability Engineering team is a critical pillar within the Aeroderivative Engineering organization, operating at the intersection of engineering, commercial, and digital domains. The team covers project execution and model development for aspects related to performance (thermodynamic cycle models) and operability (including emissions, fuel flexibility, and controls).

This role is a key driver of our Industrialization program, which is focused on scaling our ability to deliver on a robust project backlog. In this position, you will bridge the gap between site execution and home-office modeling. You will lead technical field activities-ensuring units are tuned and ready for testing-while also performing the deep-dive data analysis and cycle modeling required to validate unit performance.

This is a developmental role where you will receive mentorship from senior experts, learning to master gas turbine physics, control systems, and the "ITR" (Inquiry to Order to Remittance) lifecycle.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead Field Execution & Commissioning: Serve as the technical lead for performance tuning and commissioning at customer sites, executing test cards and optimizing unit operability.
  • Industrialize Data Workflows: Implement standardized data-gathering processes to ensure field data is delivered in a high-fidelity format for model tuning, reducing the time between testing and digital model synchronization.
  • Drive Pretest Readiness: Perform comprehensive pretest checkouts, including instrumentation fuel loop checks, sensor calibrations, and control system readiness (Mark VIe and others) to ensure successful execution of contractual thermal performance tests.
  • Cycle Model Analysis: Utilize and run NPSS cycle models to evaluate unit health, diagnose thermodynamic deviations, and compare real-world hardware performance against design intent.
  • Support the OTR Lifecycle: Manage the Order to Remittance (OTR) workflow by drafting formal test procedures, calculating test uncertainty, and responding to technical customer requests regarding unit status and guarantees.
  • Collaborate on Model Tuning: Work closely with the home-office model development team to ensure that field-captured data is sufficient for tuning physics-based models to match specific field assets.
  • Technical Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact for field core resources and customers during the testing phase, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on data requirements and test objectives.
Required Qualifications
  • This role requires basic experience in the Engineering/Technology & Performance Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
Desired Characteristics
  • Curious & Eager to Learn:
You're genuinely excited to dive deep into complex gas turbine systems and simulation tools. You ask "why" and "how" because you want to truly understand-not just follow steps. The idea of becoming a subject matter expert in performance engineering energizes you.
  • Detail-Oriented Problem Solver:
You love working with data, making the numbers align perfectly, and troubleshooting when they don't. You're methodical and persistent-when something doesn't match, you see it as an engaging puzzle to solve.
  • Collaborative & Impact-Driven:
You thrive working with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, bringing fresh ideas while learning from others. You want your work to matter-and you're motivated knowing your models will guide real turbines in the field.
