Talascend is currently seeking a Controls Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Wentzville, Missouri.

Overview

The role involves designing and supporting control systems, including piping, wiring diagrams, control panels, and software for industrial automation projects. The engineer will troubleshoot, debug, and implement control solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Engineer and design pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical piping diagrams
  • Design electrical control panels
  • Develop programmable logic controller (PLC) software and human machine interface (HMI) applications
  • Perform tryout, debug, and start-up support for control systems
  • Provide technical support for installation, training, and troubleshooting at plant sites
  • Coordinate with safety and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues
  • Assist in troubleshooting device failures, especially Vanchop robots and HMI devices
  • Support reactive troubleshooting and proactive improvement initiatives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a controls engineer
  • Proficiency with Ladder Logic programming (especially Allen-Bradley Control Logix and Siemens)
  • Experience with PLC hardware/software, servo drives, and robotic systems (Fanuc, ABB)
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and electrical control system design
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in industrial automation environments
  • Excellent communication and autonomous work ability
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing pneumatic and hydraulic piping diagrams
  • Supervisory or team lead experience
  • Knowledge of VFD and industrial safety standards
Shifts are flexible, requiring the ability to work any shift, including weekends, with a typical schedule from 5:30AM to 7:00AM, depending on the assigned shift. The candidate may be on any of the three shifts, and weekend work is included. This position does not support remote work.
