We are seeking a motivated Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer to contribute to the testing and analysis of a wide array of electronic components, subassemblies and systems with a focus on advanced development and system qualification. The successful candidate will have the passion for solving difficult technical problems and a dedication to providing outstanding service in the national interest.
Responsibilities- Determine EMI/EMC requirements for systems in development based on customer inputs, the intended mission and associated use environments.
- Develop verification strategies to ensure that designs meet defined EMI/EMC requirements.
- Write documents, control plans, test procedures, and reports as needed.
- Troubleshoot EMI issues from board to system level.
- Operate a variety of EMI, RF and electronics test equipment.
- Team with project leads, hardware designers, and product realization teams.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 80% of the time.
Salary Range$117,500 – $235,700. Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q-level security clearance.
- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).
- Laboratory skills and knowledge of RF and digital test equipment.
- Knowledge of RF, Digital Communications, Electronic Warfare, and Cyber Security systems and principles.
- Ability to work successfully in a dynamic, interdisciplinary, teaming environment.
- Ability to set‑up and execute EMI‑EMC tests per MIL‑STD‑461.
- Experience in fast‑paced test environment working with flight hardware.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting EMI/EMC events from board to system level.
- TEMPEST testing and/or a willingness to become TEMPEST trained.
- Fundamental knowledge of ESD, survivability and TEMPEST design techniques.
- Attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills.
- Experience managing work within an EMI test laboratory including leading others and planning work.
Applicants need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
