Job Summary

Location: Providence, RI

Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000 / year

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing building systems team. The role will lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex mechanical systems across a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, educational, and municipal projects, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, architects, and designers.

Remote work is preferred; travel to job sites within the Northeast may be required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical design and serve as project manager for building systems projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Develop and review construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements (e.g., ASHRAE, local building codes).
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budgets for assigned projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for selected projects, building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Coordinate and manage multi-disciplinary design teams, including internal civil, structural, and electrical staff.
  • Oversee construction administration activities, including submittal review, responses to RFIs, and site visits.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external project meetings, maintaining clear communication with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Support proposal development, level‑of‑effort estimating, and project planning.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the mechanical team.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for MEP design.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection, and applicable building codes and ASHRAE standards.
  • Experience managing projects through design and construction phases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination tools preferred.
  • Ability to travel to job sites in CT, MA, and RI.
