About the Role
Join a dynamic team leading innovation in Distributed Energy Resource (DER) management. As a Distribution Operations DER Engineer III, you'll drive critical DER planning, data programming, and system optimization efforts. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of remote work and the opportunity to make a measurable impact in the energy sector, working with cutting-edge technology and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced DER planning and assess system impacts for distributed energy resources, including solar PV and energy storage.
- Conduct voltage optimization, hosting capacity, and power flow analysis to enhance grid performance.
- Collaborate on DER Management program development, covering voltage management, network communication, data mapping, and operational requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze complex data sets using Excel and Python for DER reporting and system enhancement.
- Facilitate communications and integration for remotely operable distribution devices.
- Apply knowledge of IEEE and UL 1741 standards in all engineering functions.
- Contribute to process development and continuous improvement in DER system operations.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in DER planning, voltage management, or related engineering roles.
- Strong proficiency in Excel; adept at data programming and analysis.
- 1+ year of hands-on Python experience.
- Experience with DER standards (solar PV inverters, energy storage).
- Working knowledge of IEEE , UL 1741.
- Skilled in computer programming concepts.
- Proficient with Outlook, virtual desktops, Microsoft Teams.
Preferred Skills
- MODBUS 2030.5 protocol familiarity.
- Experience in voltage management and DER reporting.
- Background in communications for remote distribution devices.
