CAD Manager

CAD Manager – Portland, Oregon

We are in search of a CAD Manager to join our diverse and dynamic organization on the Portland office. As a core team member of our Substation Section, you will be interacting with an established group of engineers, designers and drafters, playing a valuable part in executing drafting of accurate drawing packages for utility power delivery projects, using Micro Station and AutoCAD.

• AS degree in Drafting and Design from an accredited institution preferred; high school diploma or drafting certificate with additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years of drafting and detailing experience with AutoCAD and/or Micro Station; coursework + project experience will be considered.
• Background with direct report supervision and day‑to‑day people leadership.
• Proficiency with manipulation of vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD and Micro Station.
• Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer‑provided markups with a high level of attention to details.
• QA/QC of drawings produced by the drafting team.
• Ability to work with the Engineering Manager and other Leads/Supervisors to assign and schedule day‑to‑day work of individual CAD operators, assigning/changing priorities and monitoring status.
• Skilled in Doc Control, Drawing Records Management, Preliminary and final IFC issuance.
• Knowledge of file sharing, document management and collaboration tools such as Project Wise, FTP, SharePoint, Fusion, Meridian, Autodesk Vault, Workfront etc.
• Experience with creating process improvement policies, tools, and client‐specific CAD guides for drafting and engineering teams.
• Support remote office overflow CAD workload on a need and availability basis; this will require coordination with other CAD Supervisors in Leidos offices.
• Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.
• Highly organized, efficient, and detail oriented.
• Ability to perform tasks in a fast paced engineering/production environment.

• Experience working with protection and control and substation physical drawings for electric utility transmission projects.
• The ability to comprehend and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.
• Experience with 3‑D modelling in Micro Station, AutoCAD, and/or Inventor.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Knowledge of VBA and/or Auto Lisp.
