What You’ll Do
- You will oversee and manage field engineering activities responsible for planning, designing, and obtaining permits for new cable routes
- You will visit customer sites to gather OSP site survey information, evaluate customer requirements and determine the OSP equipment required
- You will work as part of a multi-faceted team consisting of engineering, construction, project management, and scheduling personnel, all with a common interest of delivering results to the customer
- You will coordinate with drafting and/or GIS personnel located in remote offices to produce construction drawings to be used to construct the network
- You will develop base mapping and provide field engineering services required to prepare permit drawings, OSP construction drawings, and final as‑built drawings in electronic format

- You will research and incorporate permitting requirements from jurisdictional authorities (i.e., state, county, city, railroads, and others) into the OSP design
- You will recommend final route based on most economical solution and permitting agency’s requirements
- You will research and evaluate various route options associated with the projects. Research shall include aerial and underground options, existing customer conduit and other third party conduit
- You will engage daily with the customer’s engineering team and project management staff via emails / phone as well as occasional in‑person meetings
- You will maintain safe working habits and conditions according to regulations and policies
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- Valid state driver's license (cannot be provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening
- Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed
- May be required to work after hours, on weekends or be on‑call as work is needed
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- 4–6 years of experience in the OSP Engineering field – experience with aerial and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
- Experience with cable placement and splicing methods and practices
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to travel and work extended hours; overtime and weekends as needed
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
- Familiarity with permitting requirements for state and local agencies
- Working understanding of the RUS (Rural Utility Service) units and their meaning process

- Exposure to adverse weather conditions (hot or cold temperatures, icy or wet roads, rain, snow or sleet, changes in terrain, urban or rural settings) is possible
- Exposure to toxic chemicals or corrosive material may occur
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

The hourly wage ranges from $20.00 to $30.00, depending on experience.
