Responsibilities
- Work as part of the engineering team executing industrial projects in the field of industrial furnaces for the steel industry.
- Provide technical support and problem resolution as needed.
- Review contract specifications and develop project plan from engineering through installation, complying with required standards, including timelines, budget and design reviews.
- Create process flow, process, and instrumentation diagrams.
- Size relevant fluid process equipment and create technical specifications.
- Participate in risk analyses (FMEA, HAZOP, etc.).
- Coordinate with purchasing to order materials for all parts and components needed to complete a project.
- Validate technical choices.
- Request quotes and manage vendors to ensure fair market prices and quality control for all outsourced work.
- Generate operational philosophy descriptions, perform startup and shutdown analysis, and generate performance test protocols.
- Facilitate cross‑departmental design review meetings to ensure feedback on designs from all departments.
- May perform field management assessments, audits and customer service.
- Work with the Sales team to identify customer requirements regarding process control equipment, calculations and assist in preparing proposals.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in a field related to the conception of industrial furnaces.
- Work experience must have included:
- Knowledge and technical orientation of electrical processes in the steel and/or furnace industry
- Knowledge of thermal and structural parts of a furnace
- Knowledge of the interaction between heat and various metals
- Experience with ACAD drawings
- Experience with development and implementation of hardwired and PLC‑based control systems
- Experience with development of PLC applications for sequential and process control using Allen‑Bradley Control Logix and Siemens S7 PLC equipment
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic control design
- Experience with safety standards: NEC and NFPA 86
- Experience with programs:
Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Auto Cad, Allen‑Bradley Control Logix 5000 and Siemens Step

- Required to travel both in the USA and abroad for customer meetings and occasional equipment commissioning or service up to 25% of the time.
