Mechanical Commissioning Field Technician III
Location: Remote – Cheyenne, WY. Must be located near a major airport.
Travel Requirements: Up to 75% domestic travel. Valid driver’s license required. Relocation may be considered for long‑term project needs.
Job SummaryThe Mechanical Commissioning Field Technician III is a technical commissioning role responsible for executing tests, troubleshooting equipment, and supporting commissioning plans. The position requires independent work and technical problem‑solving beyond the foundation developed in Commissioning Field Technician I and II roles.
Essential Functions1. Perform On‑site Inspection, Validation, Testing and Verification of Mechanical Equipment (50%)
- Participate in factory witness testing.
- Observe startup activities.
- Use technical equipment to perform testing.
- Perform functional testing of equipment and mechanical and controls systems.
- Troubleshoot system components.
2. Develop Testing Plans and Procedures (20%)
- Assist in the development of commissioning plans.
- Prepare pre‑functional checklists.
- Prepare functional performance test scripts.
3. Review Construction‑related Design Documents, Drawings and Specifications (15%)
- Review shop drawings and submittals.
- Review sequence of operations.
- Assist in commissioning‑focused design reviews.
4. Reporting (15%)
- Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in preparation and contribute to final commissioning report.
- Manage personal hours using company tools.
Completion of assigned tasks and deliverables on time and on budget.
Position RequirementsIntermediate qualifications include:
- Knowledge of mechanical and controls system principles.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows.
- Effective communication and organizational skills for remote work.
- Adherence to site safety requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including client interaction.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under moderate supervision.
- Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Certification in NFPA 70E and/or OSHA 10/30 if required.
- Strong multi‑tasking and organizational skills.
Frequently manipulating, moving or grasping small parts; remaining in stationary positions; moving through various environments including tight and confined spaces; descending/ascending stairs and ladders; occasionally carrying up to 50 pounds.
Travel / RelocationValid driver’s license required. Up to 75% travel, which may include any or all U.S. states. Real acceptable alternative required for domestic air travel.
Certifications, Education & Experience- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or related discipline; OR
- Two years’ experience with installation, hands‑on testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electrical infrastructure; PLUS
- Minimum three years’ additional experience in the same area.
Progression into Specialist I (Level 4, Step 1‑4) leading troubleshooting efforts, managing vendors & clients.

Salary RangeUSD 87,000 – 110,000 per year (Cheyenne, WY)
