Role Description

As an Electronics Technician at Physical Electronics, you will support the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of sophisticated electronic systems used in surface analysis instruments. On a typical day, you will read and interpret schematics, assemble and solder electronic components, perform functional tests, and diagnose issues at the component and system level. You will document test results, support continuous improvement of assembly and repair processes, and collaborate closely with engineers and other technicians to ensure product quality and reliability.

This is a full‑time, hybrid role based in Chanhassen, MN, with some flexibility to work from home for tasks that do not require on‑site lab or equipment access. Occasional support of field service, customer demonstrations, or special projects may be required.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in electronics technology and electricity, with the ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Hands‑on proficiency in soldering and assembly of electronic components and circuit boards, following industry best practices and safety standards.
  • Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electronic systems, including identifying, isolating, and resolving component‑level and system‑level issues.
  • Experience with maintenance and repair of electronic and electromechanical equipment, including routine calibration, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
  • Certificate or associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Comfort working with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and the ability to follow standardized procedures and quality guidelines.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a lab/manufacturing environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience in instrumentation, semiconductor, or high‑tech manufacturing environments is beneficial.
