Description
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is seeking a Computational Designer to join our inter-disciplinary computational design team. The team consists of professionals with backgrounds in engineering, physics, visual effects, 3D animation, simulation analysis, software development, and manufacturing technologies. The computational designer will work with subject matter experts to understand the design problem at hand, potential geometric solutions, previous efforts, performance requirements, and other important factors to guide the design process.
WhatYou Will Be Doing
As the Computational Designer you will be responsible for turning complex design challenges into practical, high‑impact solutions.
- Work with subject matter experts to understand and solve design problems across a broad range of subjects
- Implement novel computational design processes that generate designs for future Lockheed Martin products
- Conduct research to enable and support projects through computational design technologies
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure all design requirements are met
- Communicate concepts and progress clearly to stakeholders

Location and EligibilityThis position is available in Orlando or Grand Prairie, preference is Grand Prairie. Must be a U.S. citizen. The position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Basic Qualifications- Expertise in procedural geometry modeling with SideFX Houdini (experience with other procedural modeling tools will be considered)
- Strong understanding of geometry and 3D modeling fundamentals
- Proficiency with at least one scripting or programming language (Python or C++ preferred but other languages will be considered)
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited college in 3D animation, visual effects, computer science, engineering, industrial design, physics, or related degree or relevant experience
- Ability to obtain a US security clearance;
Must be a U.S. citizen
- Knowledge of manufacturing technologies and processes (especially for additive manufacturing)
- Experience with physics simulations, topology optimization, and model analysis
- Interest in tinkering, making, fabricating, and researching
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Lifelong learning mentality and appetite for experimentation
- Attention to technical details
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Secret.
Remote Work and SchedulePart‑time Remote Telework:
The employee selected for this position will work part of their schedule remotely and part at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process. Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules. Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week.
