Position Overview

Syner-G is seeking a Sr. Facilities Engineer with 5–10 years of experience to lead and support building and plant operations across laboratory, manufacturing, and utility environments. This role is responsible for overseeing complex facility systems, managing maintenance programs, leading troubleshooting efforts, and ensuring compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements. The Sr. Facilities Engineer will serve as a technical subject matter expert, mentor junior team members, and collaborate with cross‑functional departments to maintain safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Travel to client sites may be required up to 100%, depending on project demands and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, schedule, and oversee external service providers performing Corrective Maintenance (CM) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities under facility, system, or equipment contracts.
  • Ensure CM and PM programs are executed effectively, documented accurately, and compliant with internal procedures and GMP requirements.
  • Conduct advanced inspections of facility utilities, equipment, and systems to identify risks, performance issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead updates and verification of P&IDs, HVAC documentation, electrical one-lines, and process flow diagrams.
  • Oversee monitoring of freezers and other critical equipment, ensuring proper operation, alarm response, and system reliability.
  • Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts for HVAC, mechanical, utility, and lab/manufacturing equipment (GxP and non‑GxP), including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Respond to alarms, equipment failures, and power outages, providing technical leadership during emergency situations.
  • Maintain and review documentation of inspections, PM activities, repairs, and system performance in accordance with SOPs and Work Instructions.
  • Support audit readiness by ensuring documentation accuracy, system compliance, and facility preparedness.
  • Manage environmental waste processes in accordance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, and other departments to support operational continuity and facility improvements.
  • Communicate regularly with the Manufacturing team to address facility‑related needs and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Oversee replacement of solvent recyclers and support lab processes as needed.
  • Provide detailed shift turnover reports and ensure continuity across teams.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively, manage multiple projects, and operate with minimal oversight.
  • Mentor and guide junior Facilities Engineers and Technicians.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field.
Experience
  • 5–10 years of Facilities Engineering experience, or experience as a General Contractor, Construction Manager, or Subcontractor.
  • Strong experience with facility systems, utilities, and process equipment.
  • CAPEX project experience preferred.
  • GMP cleanroom experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building systems, utilities, and equipment operations.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols, PPE requirements, and emergency response procedures.
  • In‑depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Highly motivated, detail‑oriented, and capable of working independently while leading others.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.

Physical Demands:
The employee is regularly required to use a computer keyboard and mouse; reach with hands and arms; talk and listen. The work environment is an indoor temperate office setting with moderate noise level and bright lighting conducive to minimal eye strain.
