Job Summary
As a Remote Monitoring Specialist, you will provide remote service and control system technical support for Trane National Accounts and Remote Resolution Center customers. Your responsibilities include remote maintenance, operation, diagnosis, and programming of various HVAC control systems. Excellent customer service skills and technical documentation are required when communicating with external and internal customers, technicians, and administrators. You will be expected to set up, maintain, and adjust control systems utilizing knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems and equipment such as fluid cooling systems, packaged air conditioning units, variable air systems, and other HVAC configurations.
The role requires applying basic electronic theory, modulating control system principles, airflow dynamics, and basic refrigeration theory in daily activities.
- Respond to building automation system alarms and customer requests.
- Analyze, diagnose, and repair building automation systems remotely.
- Provide training and follow-up training for customers and personnel as directed.
- Document work by following pre‑defined remote service procedures and completing remote service reports and customer contact documentation.
- Submit all required paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
- Keep current on Trane products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of building automation systems.
- Provide technical support to customers and personnel as directed on assigned projects.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school, or 5 years’ experience in building automation systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 2 years working with building automation systems.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk, and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Strong understanding of Building Automation, including Trane Controls HVAC theory including air and water side systems, and ability to interpret Trane custom programming (TGP2).
- Ability to meet short‑ and long‑term deadlines.
- Effectively meet the needs of internal and external customers.
- Ability to work regularly and dependably.
- Ability to function in a team environment.
- Demonstrate ability to cope with stress and maintain a pleasant and cooperative temperament with internal and external customers.

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to understand and apply temperature and pressure theories as well as basic electrical theories and application.
- Ability to do basic arithmetic and interpret data displayed in various units.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
- Ability to communicate with others both written and orally, including telephone communication.
You should be available to work four, 10‑hour days, Saturday through Wednesday from 10:00 pm–9:00 am Eastern Time, with a 1‑hour lunch break.
Shift Differential: An additional $3.50 per hour applies to hours worked between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Flexibility to work overtime and weekends is required.
$58,045.00 – $80,640.00 per year. Compensation includes exception hourly pay and does not include incentives, commissions, or additional benefits. The actual compensation will depend on factors such as seniority, merit, location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
