The preferred location is in one of DU’s field offices in Syracuse, New York or Easton, Maryland.

Working from a home office within the geographic area of primary responsibilities will be considered. The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team of biologists and engineers who are responsible for the planning, design and construction of wetland and riparian restoration and enhancement projects. Candidates must be self‑motivated, goal‑oriented and able to work with and solve problems in close team‑based relationships.

Specific Duties

  • Interpretation, selection, adaptation, and application of engineering, surveying, and construction management principles and practices across a range of engineering services
  • Completion of engineering designs, project plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, reports, and permit application documents for nature‑based features, dam rehabilitation, and wetland and riparian restoration practices
  • Managing multiple projects across geographic responsibilities, including reviewing work prepared by others, determining priorities, and maintaining project schedules and budgets
  • Coordination with internal and external stakeholders and representation of engineering designs to multidisciplinary project teams
  • Conducting field work and inspections and performing construction management oversight as needed (occasional), which may include strenuous outdoor activity in difficult environmental conditions
  • Reviewing contracts, ensuring contract compliance, and coordinating with consultants and contractors to meet project objectives
  • Mentoring and/or supervising engineering staff (technicians and/or engineers) and delegating tasks to direct reports, coordinating workload and resource allocation with the Manager of Engineering Services
