Project Manager – New Product Development
Phenomenex, a Danaher operating company, is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead end‑to‑end delivery of New Product Development (NPD) and value engineering initiatives for separations consumables. The role will manage cross‑functional teams through scope definition, integrated planning, execution, and risk management to meet timeline, budget, quality, and regulatory/design control requirements.
Responsibilities- Lead cross‑functional teams to deliver NPD and value engineering programs from concept through launch, meeting scope, schedule, budget, and QMS requirements.
- Drive stage‑gate / tollgate execution by defining clear deliverables, ensuring decision readiness, and documenting outcomes.
- Build and run the integrated project plan (schedule, critical path, resources, dependencies), proactively managing risks/issues with countermeasures to protect on‑time delivery.
- Establish project governance & stakeholder alignment (cadence, action tracking, decision logs, communications), including coordination of external vendors/partners as needed.
- Own performance reporting & continuous improvement (RAG, milestones, cost/capex forecasts, escalations), applying DBS/structured problem‑solving and ensuring design control/compliant documentation.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in life science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field (advanced degree a plus). - 5+ years of experience in product development, R&D, operations, or life science consumables environment.
- Prefer 3+ years of project management experience, including at least one product development program delivered to launch.
- Experience running stage‑gate/design control in a regulated development/manufacturing environment (e.g., ISO‑based QMS).
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Project (or equivalent scheduling tool). Demonstrated use of risk management methods to translate technical uncertainty into executable plans.
- On‑site attendance will be required as business needs dictate (e.g., onboarding, key team meetings, program workshops, kaizen/training events, and milestone reviews).
- PMP certification (or equivalent formal PM training) and Lean/DBS tools experience (e.g., VPM, PSP).
- Project delivery experience within life sciences/diagnostics and/or separations/chromatography consumables.
- Risk management experience and translating VOC into clear product requirement specifications (PRS) and executable plans.
The salary range for this role is $92,500‑$120,000 with eligibility for bonus/incentive pay. The position offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k). Remote work is available; remote arrangements can be arranged with the interview team.
