Civil Senior Principal Engineer
This Civil Senior Principal Engineer role is a leadership opportunity to grow and shape Cannon’s Water Resources operations in Orange County. Reporting to the Director of Water Resources, the position involves developing business with Orange County agencies and clients, managing a diverse portfolio of wastewater, water treatment, and other water resource projects, mentoring engineers, and providing excellent client service.
Job Duties- Secure new work by establishing and fostering client relations and developing proposals.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with ongoing clients and actively seek to expand services.
- Manage a variety of civil engineering Public Works‑Water Resources projects.
- Track project scope, budgets, and schedules to ensure contract commitments and profitability.
- Act as primary interface with clients on project coordination and design, ensuring quality standards, efficiency, and client satisfaction.
- Effectively manage quality assurance and quality control.
- Prepare PSandE for water resources projects, including water, sewer, and storm drains (pipelines, pump stations, lift stations, storage reservoirs, etc.).
- Lead, mentor, and grow an Orange County Water Resources team.
- Direct and mentor project and design engineers on technical matters, acting as a technical resource.
- Engage in professional and community activities that promote the Cannon brand.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Civil Engineering, focusing on Public Works/Water Resources projects.
- Minimum 8 years of project management experience in Public Works/Water Resources projects.
- California P.E. license.
- Proficiency with civil engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil3D, Hydrology & Hydraulic, AES, WSPG, Flowmaster, etc.).
- Proficient with MS Office Suite.
- Strong client service orientation and delivery record.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects on time and within budget.
- Experience managing, mentoring, and resourcing staff (a plus).
