Position: Civil Engineering Project Manager - Mission Critical (REMOTE)

Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Project Manager focusing on Mission Critical Data Center projects within our Community Development Group. You will work on Data Center projects of various sizes across the country, serving Fortune 10 companies. The role involves directly working with clients to implement and manage project design and construction administration, and supervising civil site design services for private data center projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams on site development projects related to planning, design, and engineering for private developers, general contractors, and architects.
  • Be an enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, organized partner with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Show strong interest in the Mission Critical/Data Center market and major commercial projects.
  • Act as a responsive partner with excellent communication skills.
  • Be proactive, solution‑oriented, and collaborative within a team environment.
  • Adapt flexibly to dynamic project needs on tight timelines and fast‑paced schedules.
  • Coordinate virtually as the team is located across various geographic regions.
  • Understand civil engineering concepts (site layout, grading, utility design, etc.) and communicate ideas effectively.
  • Manage and lead technical work, depending on scope/size of project.
  • Lead large, high‑complexity projects and liaise with clients and sub‑consultants to meet needs in a timely manner.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and external consultants.
  • Review, markup, and coordinate documentation delivery in various project phases (site plans, utility plans, grading plans, stormwater systems, etc.).
  • Collaborate in project team settings and engage in creative and critical thinking.
  • Assist design team with sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and visual formats.
  • Assist with proposal development, interviews, and presentations.
  • Market and support client growth across North America.
  • Use technology to develop 3‑D models of civil systems and provide markups to junior engineers/designers.
  • Develop and manage project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and those of peers.
  • Support the development of new standards and processes for the team.
Capabilities & Credentials
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production.
  • Deep knowledge of civil systems, materials, methods, and industry standards.
  • Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of document production.
  • Check work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet budget and schedule.
  • Collaborate creatively and critically in project team settings.
  • Advanced civil engineering concepts communication.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective communicator and team leader.
  • Efficient management of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Planning, or related field.
  • Minimum eight years of experience.
Typical Office Environment

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to weather.
