Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Technologist or Technician focused on Mission Critical Data Center projects within our Community Development Group. You will work on Data Center projects of various sizes across the country, supporting Fortune 10 companies. Remote work may be possible for the right candidate.

Project Overview

The engineers on this team are a core design group dedicated to serving Data Center clients and similar major commercial programs. Projects require a diverse set of skills for site due diligence, design, entitlement approvals, permitting, and construction. You will work collaboratively within the Mission Critical core design team, project partners, and various services to develop private civil site designs, construction plans and specifications, preparatory reports, studies, and construction contract documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support engineering projects by working directly with engineers, project managers, and design team members.
  • Deliver high‑quality drafting of engineering drawings and exhibits.
  • Assist with maintaining and further developing drafting standards, mentoring staff, and implementing industry‑leading technology for CADD and design software.
  • Draft plans for civil and related discipline design projects using Auto Desk Civil 3D.
  • Perform site grading analysis and calculations with Autodesk Civil 3D; prepare street and utility plans, profiles, project details, and quantity take‑offs.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to meet project timelines and requirements.
  • Assist civil engineers with site design, utility design, grading, and overall plan production.
  • Manage deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects as schedules dictate.
  • Assist with design development through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Utilize technologies for developing three‑dimensional models of civil systems.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proactive, solution‑oriented, and effective within a cooperative team environment.
  • Flexible and responsive to dynamic project needs on tight timelines.
  • Comfortable with virtual coordination across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Understanding of civil engineering concepts (site layout, grading, utility design, etc.) and effective communication of ideas.
  • Willingness to learn new civil site design concepts and grow skills for project delivery.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem‑solving skills using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Initiative in tasks and coordination with project team members, obtaining and sharing necessary information.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and related materials.
  • Multi‑tasking, prioritization, and ability to take direction.
  • Attention to detail to recognize discrepancies.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 3+ years of drafting experience on civil engineering and/or related projects.
  • Technical degree, diploma, or certificate in a related field is preferred but not required if sufficient experience and skills can be demonstrated.

Position will primarily be in an office setting. Typical office environment with computer work and sedentary activities for the majority of the day.
