Systems Engineer
TEKsystems is seeking an IP Core Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust IP/MPLS core network for a leading Alaska-based ISP. The role involves working with cutting‑edge technologies in a collaborative, remote environment and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of the company’s carrier‑grade network infrastructure.
Remote Work100% remote, working typical daytime Alaska business hours, Monday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, design, implement, and document new network solutions (50%)
- Provide escalation and troubleshooting support for operations teams (20%)
- Create engineering estimates and installation packages (20%)
- Test new technologies and service architectures in lab environments (10%)
- Strong experience with Alcatel/Nokia routers (7750)
- Advanced knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, IS‑IS, OSPF, EIGRP)
- Familiarity with RSVP, LDP, PIM, and data center network design
- Proficiency in Ethernet technologies (VLANs, STP, LACP, MC‑LAG)
- Skilled in Microsoft Visio for network documentation
- Excellent project management, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate across departments

- Core Networking:
Nokia IP Engineering - Protocols: MPLS, IS‑IS, BGP, OSPF
- Documentation: MOPs (Methods of Procedure) creation
- Experience with Metasolv
- Contract to Hire position based in Colorado Springs, CO (fully remote)
- Pay range: $50.00 – $65.00 per hour
