Fire Protection Engineer

Thanks for your interest in Oklo! We are searching for a Fire Protection Engineer to join our engineering team and would like to fill this position immediately.

Fire Protection Engineers at Oklo are responsible for the design and development of the fire protection systems in Oklo's power plants.

• Establish fire protection requirements that inform plant design.
• Develop Fire Hazard Analyses, Fire Protection Program, First Safe Shutdown Analyses, and other licensing and design documentation.
• Define equipment architecture, specifications, operational modes, and performance criteria.
• Lead the design of fire protection equipment.
• Perform commissioning and testing of fire protection systems.
• Manage projects with third‑party fire protection consultants.
• Document work using modern tools and techniques, and compose well‑written technical reports.

Engineering education in Fire Protection, Nuclear, Chemical, or Mechanical disciplines.

Experience performing the design of fire protection systems in the nuclear, petroleum, petrochemical, or pharmaceutical industries.

Broad familiarity with engineering principles and strong systems engineering/operations intuition.

• Knowledgeable in nuclear facility fire protection design and operations under an NRC or DOE license.
• Experience with NFPA 804 or NFPA 850.
• Experience with IBC or IFC standards.

Passionate about making advanced fission a reality; willing and able to learn quickly; willing to think differently and proposes novel solutions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; can write in a modern active voice and clearly present technical content.

Remote employees are required to travel to headquarters in Santa Clara, CA twice a quarter for team meetings, off‑sites, and company events. New hires must attend in‑person onboarding for the first two weeks.
