Overview/ Job Responsibilities
Entarian is seeking an Aquaculture NEPA Specialist to provide technical and regulatory support for environmental planning and compliance activities related to marine aquaculture initiatives and associated federal actions. This position supports development and review of environmental analyses and documentation required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and provides technical guidance to support regulatory decision‑making, interoffice coordination, and environmental compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, draft, review, and revise environmental documentation and analyses supporting marine aquaculture initiatives and related federal actions.
- Prepare complete or partial NEPA documentation in support of environmental planning activities, including environmental assessments, supporting analyses, technical sections, and related documentation.
- Provide technical review, comments, and recommendations on draft environmental documents, procedural documents, letters, and other regulatory materials to ensure consistency with applicable requirements and agency procedures.
- Coordinate closely with project teams, program leadership, regulatory specialists, and legal staff to support environmental review processes and document development.
- Support project scoping activities and assist in determining appropriate levels of environmental review and analysis.
- Provide technical guidance related to development of baseline conditions, alternatives analyses, effects analyses, public comment responses, and environmental documentation strategies.
- Participate in project meetings, technical discussions, and coordination activities related to environmental compliance and planning efforts.
- Prepare monthly progress reports summarizing accomplishments, challenges, recommendations, travel activities, and ongoing project status.
- Ensure work products are developed consistent with applicable federal environmental statutes, regulations, policies, and agency procedures.
Location: Remote work acceptable with periodic local travel to the Saint Petersburg, FL area.
Salary: $75,000 to $85,000
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, marine science, biology, ecology, environmental policy, natural resources, environmental planning, or a related field.
- Five (5) or more years of professional experience directly related to environmental planning, environmental compliance, NEPA implementation, regulatory analysis, or closely related duties.
- Experience supporting compliance activities associated with NEPA, the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), or related environmental authorities.
- Experience supporting marine, coastal, fisheries, or aquaculture programs.
- Familiarity with NOAA environmental compliance procedures and federal environmental statutes and regulations.
- Demonstrated experience preparing, reviewing, or supporting environmental documentation and regulatory analyses.
- Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to support environmental review processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare technical documentation and communicate complex environmental topics.
- Experience using Google Suite applications and common collaboration tools.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to access applicable government systems and facilities.
- Familiarity with biological sciences and techniques pertaining to marine and/or coastal ecology, ecological restoration, and/or familiarity with Natural Resources Damage Assessment (NRDA) process and requirements.
