Responsibilities

  • Strategic Initiatives
    • Coordinate with the National Technical Leader to define the vision for national expertise within the area of specialization.
    • Assist with the Practice Plan, identifying technology and skill gaps and working on new regulatory requirements.
    • Promote R&D initiatives, develop applications, monitor progress, and report to leaders.
  • Practice Technical Growth and Development
    • Build a team of Technical Specialists at regional and local levels, identifying roles and supporting operational groups.
    • Recruit, onboard, and train staff for strategic hires.
    • Maintain the Practice experience matrix and oversee technical excellence programs.
    • Develop and update practice standards, processes, and tools.
  • Client Development
    • Support project proposals by developing technical approaches, identifying resources, and reviewing proposals.
    • Create and maintain conference abstracts, presentations, and industry award submissions.
    • Present at conferences and serve on national technical committees.
    • Publish articles for industry outlets and maintain technical seminars.
  • Quality Management System
    • Serve as Senior Advisor or Quality Control Reviewer; identify gaps and implement improvements.
    • Participate in key projects as a Technical Task Leader when required.
    • Lead continuous improvement of standards, processes, and tools with root‑cause analysis and lessons learned.
    • Review key scope and fee elements in relation to technical delivery.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, or a related field;
    Master’s preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in ecosystem and stream restoration, watershed‑scale planning, geomorphic assessment, sediment transport modeling, wetland and stream restoration design, and nature‑based solutions for flooding and erosion.
  • Expertise with hydraulic modeling and geomorphic assessment tools: HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil3D, Micro Station, field data collection.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; ability to work independently and deliver complex projects.
  • Active in industry organizations; leadership positions preferred.
  • Recognition nationally through conference presentations, industry moderation, publications, or similar.
  • Professional Engineer license in the state of residence required; ability to obtain licenses in other states within six months of hire. Equivalent credentials (e.g., Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner, Professional Wetland Scientist, Certified Floodplain Manager, Envision Sustainability Professional, LEED‑Accredited Professional) accepted.
  • Licensed Attorney (J.D., active bar membership) specializing in environmental, water, or natural resources law acceptable.
