About the Role
The Proposal Engineer within the Siemens Energy Compression business is a key function responsible for developing technical solutions and leading the proposal creation process for complex Revamp projects in our Reciprocating Compressor installed base. This role offers domestic and global market exposure, covers project scope definition, cost estimation, proposal development, value proposition creation, sales strategy development and implementation, and hand‑over of orders for project execution.
Location:
United States of America, Texas, Houston (Hybrid remote/office). The position may also be based in Painted Post, NY.
- Develop winning technical and commercial proposals, presenting solutions to customers.
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Factory, and Vendors to define project scope and winning strategies.
- Review client data and perform technical analysis to assess feasibility, reliability risks, and solution requirements.
- Perform reciprocating compressor sizing/selection and lead preliminary design reviews to mitigate technical risk.
- Develop cost structures (hardware, labor, engineering, vendors, risk, travel) and deliver competitive technical/commercial proposals.
- Support sales strategy including value propositions, ROI analysis, customer presentations, order entry, and project hand‑over/kick‑off activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 5+ years of experience in engineering and/or technical sales of reciprocating compressors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with high integrity, professionalism, and customer focus.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work both independently and within a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for proposals and presentations.
- Customer‑focused mindset with ability to understand needs, develop complex solutions, and effectively communicate value.
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 20% (with occasional international travel) to support sales activities.
- Experience working for a major reciprocating compressor manufacturer.
- Working knowledge and understanding of Siemens Energy products and services.
- Commercial background in selling, costing, and proposal development.
- Solid foundation in rotating equipment, coolers, motors, and gas engines as well as any supporting auxiliary systems.
- Experience writing technical/commercial proposals.
- Experience with Sales Force and/or SAP.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this position if based in New York is $76,800–$165,700 and the annual incentive target is 10% of base salary. Specific offers are determined by experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
