Shape the Future of Clean Energy
We're looking for a Civil Engineer who is passionate about renewable energy and ready to play a key role in designing distributed solar and battery storage projects (2-20 MW) across the U.S.
In this fully remote role, you'll be hands-on from early feasibility through construction support, helping bring impactful, carbon-reducing energy projects to life. If you're excited by innovation, collaboration, and seeing your designs turn into real-world infrastructure-this is your opportunity.
What You'll Do
+ Lead civil engineering design and scope development for distributed solar + storage projects
+ Evaluate site feasibility including grading, drainage, stormwater, hydrology, geotechnical conditions, and site access
+ Develop and refine site layouts and grading plans to maximize constructability, performance, and cost-efficiency
+ Design drainage and stormwater management systems aligned with regulatory requirements and long-term site performance
+ Plan and design access roads and utility routing for safe, efficient project execution
+ Support foundation design for PV arrays and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, development, construction, and external partners
+ Manage multiple projects simultaneously (typically 4-6 at a time) while maintaining high-quality deliverables
+ Contribute to design reviews, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives
+ Communicate regularly with internal teams to keep projects aligned and moving forward
Qualifications (Must-Haves)
+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited)
+ 5+ years of civil engineering experience in land development, solar, or transmission/distribution
+ Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
+
Experience with :
+ Site layout & grading design
+ Drainage and stormwater systems
+ Road/access design
+ Ability to evaluate site feasibility across civil disciplines (grading, drainage, hydrology, geotechnical, access)
+ Strong multitasking ability across multiple active projects
+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote environment
+ Must reside in one of the following states:
+ Illinois
+ Virginia
+ Minnesota
+ Pennsylvania
+ EIT or equivalent foundational engineering experience
Preferred Experience
+ Civil design experience in renewable energy (solar, wind, or storage)
+ Background in transmission or distribution projects
+ Familiarity with land development processes for large-scale or distributed energy projects
+ Experience working across the full project lifecycle
+ Interest in growing within renewable energy and expanding technical expertise
Why This Role Stands Out
+ 100% remote flexibility - work from anywhere within approved states
+ High-impact work supporting the transition to clean energy
+ Exposure to the full project lifecycle-not just one phase
+ Join a tight-knit, collaborative team where your work is highly visible
+ Strong focus on mentorship, training, and career growth in renewable energy
+ Opportunity to grow into more senior or specialized roles over time
Work Environment
You'll be part of a small, highly collaborative civil/structural team where communication, support, and knowledge sharing are key. This is an environment where you'll:
+ Work closely with experienced engineers and designers
+ Receive hands-on mentorship to deepen your expertise in solar land development
+ Have a direct impact on project outcomes and team success
The organization is deeply committed to sustainability, innovation, and professional growth, investing heavily in your long-term development.
