Job Description

CIMA+’s Infrastructure team combines top-notch skills with an intimate understanding of the local community to deliver customized infrastructure services for municipalities and real‑estate developers. We support clients from start to finish, whether for building brand new infrastructure or assessing, repairing, and expanding on existing projects. CIMA+ is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Intermediate Conveyance Engineer to work closely with the project manager and design lead on a variety of projects related to sewers, force mains, water mains, and related systems.

The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, leading design work, and providing engineering support throughout project life cycles.

The position operates in a hybrid work model with flexible hours and requires 2 days per week in the Mississauga or Bowmanville office.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Contribute actively to the analysis, design, and reporting of water and wastewater conveyance systems, including sewers, force mains, water mains, and associated infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, design calculations, sketches, presentation material, detailed specifications, cost estimates, and reporting.
  • Assist the project manager and design lead in the delivery of projects from initiation to completion, including coordination of designs, production of preliminary and detailed plans, tender document preparation, and on‑site engineering support during construction.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (structural engineers, electrical engineers, environmental consultants) to develop integrated solutions for conveyance systems.
  • Support inspectors and contract administrators for projects under construction and review contractor submittals for adherence to design specifications.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, feasibility studies, and project documentation; maintain accurate records of project progress and changes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
  • 7+ years of experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of water and wastewater conveyance systems, including pipelines, pumping stations, and related infrastructure.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation from Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to water and wastewater conveyance systems.
  • Familiarity with the preliminary and detailed design of sewers, water mains, force mains, and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently, with little supervision, in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive group benefits available from day one for all permanent employees working at least 20 hours per week.
  • Employee and Family Assistance Program.
  • Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with up to 4% employer contribution.
  • Annual opportunity to purchase shares for all employees as an employee‑owned company.
  • Hybrid work schedule with flexible hours.
  • Work/life balance policy applicable across Canada.
  • 3–5 weeks of vacation, based on years of relevant experience.
  • Tailored training to improve existing skills.
