At Enbridge, safety and environmental stewardship are at the core of everything we do. We are seeking an Environment Engineer to provide enterprise oversight of our Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Program, supporting U.S. Gas Transmission and Midstream operations.
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while driving consistent, high‑quality program execution across a diverse operating footprint.
What You Will Do:- Prepare, review, update, and certify SPCC plans for all applicable assets.
- Coordinate site visits with operations personnel and conduct inspections to ensure compliance, identify areas for improvement, and communicate findings clearly and action ably.
- Coordinate migration of SPCC plans into Smart Plan and utilize Smart Plan for all SPCC plan management.
- Retain and manage third‑party consultants when required to support the SPCC program, ensuring compliance with Enbridge’s safety program requirements.
- Provide guidance, advice, and interpretation of SPCC regulations, and where applicable, related state regulations.
- Update internal systems (e.g., Maximo, Enablon) to track compliance tasks and inspection findings.
- Degree in engineering.
- P.E. designation preferred or eligibility to attain within 12–18 months.
- Minimum 4 years of experience, ideally with hands‑on inspections related to SPCC compliance.
- Exposure to and understanding of the SPCC regulation and/or related state regulations.
- Experience with Smart Plan or similar platform for SPCC plan management is an asset.
- Experience with natural gas transmission, gathering, production, or distribution is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, to be verified with a motor vehicle check prior to hire.
- Both office and field environment.
- Up to 30% field work with travel durations ranging from 1 day to 1 week at a time. Exposure to active operating sites often without escort. Work alone at active facilities.
Grasping, kneeling, walking on uneven/unpaved surfaces, light‑to‑moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual and hearing requirements, and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to:Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information; understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions; organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology; organize and prioritize work schedule on a short‑term basis; make decisions with moderate impact on the immediate work unit; monitor impact outside this area; complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports;
communicate with individuals via telephone.
