Job Description
Looking for a Senior Product Safety Engineer with working knowledge of IEC 62368-1 and/or IEC 61010-1 and related standards. The engineer will support other engineers on projects, assist sales staff, and communicate with customers. Project scoping and quoting is part of the role. The senior engineer will work independently with minimal guidance, ensuring compliance with U.S., Canadian and other international product safety requirements, writing reports, and communicating with clients.
SeniorProduct Safety Engineer Responsibilities
- Require standard knowledge needed in IEC 62368-1 & or IEC 61010-1.
- IEC 60335-1 is a plus but not required.
- Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the equipment under test (EUT).
- Test products in accordance with standards and requirements. Core tests include, but are not limited to power input, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, stability, mechanical hazards, flammability, abnormal and single fault, IP testing and others as applicable per project.
- Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions.
- Identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing and project execution, and set up test plans.
- Perform preliminary design reviews (PDR) both on and off site.
- Train and mentor less senior technical staff.
- Support sales in project communication with customers.
- Attend product reviews to provide technical support.
- Answer technical questions.
- Review technical reports and test plans.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- The senior product engineer may work from home on projects when no lab activity is required.

Minimum Education al
Qualifications:
- Four‑year college degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 7+ years of product safety experience in testing, inspection, and certification laboratories, specifically within IEC 62368-1 & IEC 61010-1.
- IEC 60335-1 is a plus.
- Ability to review projects as a technical reviewer.
- Travel up to 20% as business needs dictate.
- Ability to travel locally to client sites for testing.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Receptive to guidance from others.
- Ability to deal with difficult people and problems.
- Team‑oriented and works well with diverse groups.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to multi‑task and prioritize assignments.

- Position is full‑time, Monday–Friday 8:30 am–5:00 pm with overtime as needed. Candidates living within commutable distance of Santa Clara, CA are encouraged to apply.
- Compensation: $125,000 – $147,000.
