Hitachi Rail USA is seeking a Project Manager - Rolling Stock to support our North American Vehicle projects. The Rolling Stock Project Manager will work closely with the Head of Program Management to ensure the accomplishment of onshore activities for the assigned projects. This position is based in the Hagerstown, MD Area
, with the ability for occasional remote work and some travel to our manufacturing plants in Italy and customer locations in the United States.
- Ensure the on time, on budget and on quality delivery of the assigned project.
- Ensure target achievement of the assigned project in terms of costs, revenues, margin and cash‑in.
- Ensure positive client relationships by maintaining a direct interface with the client.
- Contribute to the promotion of business opportunities and manage change/variation orders.
- Prepare contract claims and handle disputes in accordance with contract provisions.
- Complete specified project activities and tasks such as payment certificates, variation orders and claim updates.
- Manage risk by engaging stakeholders, handling contingencies, and authorizing releases.
- Oversee the project schedule for external and internal stakeholders and coordinate internal support functions.
- Track and optimise defined KPIs throughout the assigned project.
- Prepare and deliver monthly progress reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyse and keep records of project documents and contract administration.
- Prepare letters or reporting documents for the project.
- Control project documents in the project SharePoint.
- Report on work in progress and accounts payable.
- Promote a Zero Harm culture through the implementation and communication of applicable EHS policies and procedures.
- Manage subcontractors.
- Graduate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent technical background.
- PMP certification or equivalent, or ability to obtain certification within twelve months of hire.
- Fluent in English.
- Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience managing projects.
- Good written and verbal collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience working in a matrix organization.
- Intercultural experience and collaboration with international team players.
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management.
- Willingness to travel 20‑30% of the time.
Preferred candidate will have a background in rolling stock manufacturing, maintenance, or another rail‑related experience.
Salary range: $122,222 to $144,528 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skill set, and ability level, internal equity and location.
