Systems Engineer
This position is with Encode Inc., a fully owned subsidiary of Lance Soft.
Pay Rate: $100 - $120 per hour on W2.
Job SummaryDesigns, develops, analyzes, models, tests, and simulates communications systems and subsystems for a variety of networks including digital radio, battle management, command and control, wide and local area networks, and secure systems.
Integration & Test Engineer will work in a laboratory team to design, develop, and execute operational scripts and unit tests for wireless communications systems such as satellite payloads and ground terminals.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and validate test plans for system and unit level tests.
- Implement operational scripts and automate test equipment.
- Analyze test results, diagnose system issues, and work with software, firmware, and hardware teams to remediate defects.
- Lead troubleshooting of system failures using knowledge of software, firmware, RF, and hardware components.
- Support on‑site field testing and provide support for up to 3‑6 weeks per year.
- Maintain test assets used in satellite communication system development.
- Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting.
- Strong background in Linux operating system.
- Experience with test equipment automation and scripting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and learn new skills.
- C/C++ programming.
- Debugging and resolving anomalies in a system test environment.
- Use of AI‑assisted coding and testing tools.
- Data analysis and plotting.
- Embedded programming experience.
- Fluency with Wireshark and TCP/IP basics.
- Signal processing experience (MATLAB, DSP, digital communications, link budgets).
- Experience with FPGA boards and VHDL exposure.
- Dev Ops experience, including CI/CD, GIT, automated build and test.
- Communication theory and system design.
- End‑to‑end system integration, verification, and automated testing of RF links.
- Link budget analysis and overall system architecture for wireless or satellite communications.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of development experience on a Linux platform.
- 4+ years of Python and Bash scripting experience.
- 3+ years of software design/development.
- 2+ years of systems integration and testing experience.
Predominantly onsite (4–5 days per week) with occasional travel for field support (3–6 weeks per year). Offers some flexibility for work from home.
Security ClearanceSecret clearance required.
Employment DetailsFull‑time basis. This position does not materially impact the conduct or direction of a research program.
