This position supports survey and engineering work that helps design and build transportation projects across the region. You will participate in hands‑on training that will build skills needed for accurate data collection and field operations. As an Engineering Technician, you will perform the following duties:
Responsibilities- Survey Support: Gather field measurements and assist with using survey tools for transportation projects
- Instrument Operation: Handle and adjust equipment such as levels, Global Positioning System receivers, total stations, and data collectors
- Data Recording: Document field information through notes, sketches, and electronic collection methods
- Field Calculations: Use math and basic trigonometry to verify survey data and support project accuracy
- Team Assistance: Work with survey crew members in roles such as rod person, prism operator, and data collector operator
- Site Communication: Exchange information with crew members using spoken instructions, hand signals, and radios
- Full‑time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home part‑time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685 (before taxes).

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:
- This position also requires possession of a valid Class C Driver’s License.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
