Role description
Arcadis is seeking a Principal Air Quality Engineer to join our Integrated Sustainability and Compliance (ISC) team, based in Texas offices such as Austin, Dallas, or Houston. This hybrid role will split time between an Arcadis office, remote work, and client site visits. The role involves working directly with the North American Air Quality and Noise Community of Practice Leaders to grow the Gulf Coast air quality practice and support key clients.
Responsibilities include leading Gulf Coast based air quality projects such as permitting and compliance support, regulatory strategy development, emissions inventory and reporting, engine and ozone depleting substances compliance, greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability reporting, and air dispersion modeling. The candidate will also support sales and marketing efforts by meeting with clients, writing proposals, and leading technical projects to deliver excellent Air Quality Services.
accountabilities
- Apply extensive knowledge of Federal and State (with a focus on Texas and Louisiana) air quality regulations to air permitting and compliance projects.
- Work closely with the North American Air Quality and Noise Community of Practice Leaders to grow the Gulf Coast air practice through client and proposal development activities.
- Lead air permitting projects such as Permits‑by‑Rule, minor NSR, FESOP, Title V, PSD (and PSD avoidance), and Non‑Attainment NSR (and NNSR avoidance).
- Collaborate with Arcadis’ air team and mentor junior staff to ensure application of regulatory knowledge, analytical techniques, and excellent project delivery.
- Perform environmental compliance audits with a focus on air quality and EPCRA.
- Manage project teams to deliver high quality, on‑time, on‑budget deliverables.
- Work in partnership with the ISC team to provide strategic multi‑disciplined EHS solutions to key clients.
Travel up to 10‑25 % for project and client needs may include single overnight trips. Most work can be performed from an Arcadis office location or remotely.
Qualifications & ExperienceDesired
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering; or related engineering field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in the fields listed above.
- PE registration in Texas and/or Louisiana.
- Gulf Coast Chemical and Oil & Gas air quality experience.

The salary range for this position is $136,000‑204,000. Actual salaries will vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
