As an Electrical Substation Cost Estimator, you'll play a pivotal role in transforming engineering plans into real-world projects. You'll work alongside passionate experts, using cutting-edge tools and your own industry insight to bring precision and clarity to every stage of construction planning.

This hybrid role offers the best of both worlds: collaborate in person at our Raleigh office at least two days per week and enjoy the flexibility of remote work the rest of the time. Job Description:

• Review and interpret engineering plans with accuracy.
• Perform and document detailed quantity takeoffs for civil works, building construction, high and low voltage electrical and mechanical installation.
• Develop unit costs using industry standards for labor, equipment, and materials.
• Estimate construction costs from engineering drawings and specs.
• Provide budget estimates for electrical substations.
• Use estimates to support construction scheduling.
• Evaluate subcontractor pricing and change requests.
• Maintain and contribute to the Hitachi Energy construction cost database.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

• 5+ years of experience in construction cost estimating, preferably in electrical substations.
• Education related with quantity surveying, construction management, or related field preferred. Or a combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Prost or Pro Est.
• Strong understanding of industry labor, equipment, and material cost standards.
• Experience assessing subcontractor bids and change orders.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
