Structural / Bridge Engineering Intern

Opportunity
The role of a Structural / Bridge Engineering Intern is to work as an integral team member on a variety of projects under the guidance of a Senior Bridge Engineer. This role will entail a variety of tasks which may include performing simple calculations, spreadsheet creation, quantity take-offs, plan set preparation, CAD drafting, field inspection activities, reporting, building familiarity with codes, legislation, and professional reference material, and assisting with the load rating of structures such as bridges and culverts for pedestrian, vehicular, and railroad projects.
YourCapabilities and Credentials
- Must be willing and able to take initiative when needed and have the flexibility to learn new skills.
- Good communication skills: verbal, business writing, electronic communications, and presentations, MS Office skills including Word and Excel;
PowerPoint and/or Mathcad is a plus.
- Positive attitude with strong relationship building skills.
- Experience in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Micro Station or other is a plus.
- Ability to travel locally for short durations is a plus.
- Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License.
- Currently enrolled in college/university in a structural or civil engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA. This GPA must be maintained throughout the internship.
- Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within a team environment. Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Some assignments may be suitable to perform in a work from home situation if approved by supervisor. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Compliance with Stantec's HSSE program is required.
