GPI is seeking a full‑time Structural Engineering Project Manager for our New England branch based in Portsmouth, NH, Bedford, NH, Salem, NH, or Portland, ME. The position offers flexible work schedules, allowing employees to split time between the office and working from home. This position involves the project management of structural design projects in New England, focusing on projects in New Hampshire and Maine for state agencies and municipalities. The scope includes designing multiple-span bridges, large-span bridges, and signature structures, as well as new design, rehabilitation, preservation, and repair projects, including structural design and detailing of bridges, walls, and dams.

• Plan and manage all aspects of bridge design and rehabilitation projects.
• Independently coordinate the work of engineers and balance the project delivery team throughout the entire project’s development.
• Be integrated with marketing and proposal development, contractual matters, design, and production meetings.
• Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
• Conduct work sessions for design development and contract documents in conjunction with staff from other technical disciplines.
• Coordinate workload throughout project development and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule.
• Track and manage project budgets.

• Lead routine bridge inspections for state and local agencies.
• Manage and review load rating computations for structures owned by state and local agencies.
• Oversee and review bridge hydrology and hydraulics analyses.

• 8 to 20+ years of experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• PE licensure required in NH or ME.
• Experience with state DOTs, transportation agencies, and municipalities in New England.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Experience with NHI/FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (preferred).
• Experience with NHI/FHWA Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges (preferred).
• Experience with NHDOT, MaineDOT, and MTA preferred.

• Maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean MVR for final consideration.
• Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site.
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in English.
• Basic computer skills with ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel, create Outlook emails, and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams for communication.
• Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day, up to 8 hours.
• Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less.
• Able to climb and descend a ladder to a platform varying from 6’ to 20’.
• Able to wear required PPE (hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles) while working.
