Job Title:
Civil Superintendent (Traveling)
Job Description
This role involves directing all daily jobsite operations, including overseeing subcontractors, field staff, equipment, deliveries, and sequencing. The Civil Superintendent will ensure compliance with safety, sequencing, and workmanship standards, and maintain site logistics plans.
Responsibilities
+ Direct all daily jobsite operations, including oversight of subcontractors, field staff, equipment, deliveries, and sequencing.
+ Oversee trade partners to ensure compliance with safety, sequencing, and workmanship standards.
+ Implement and maintain the site logistics plan, including access control, staging, material flow, and phasing.
+ Conduct daily field walks to verify progress, resolve issues, and ensure work adheres to approved drawings and specifications.
+ Prepare and maintain 2-week lookahead schedules and coordinate updates with the Senior Construction Manager.
+ Coordinate with base personnel and government representatives on inspections, escorts, access, and field activities.
+ Enforce the Site-Specific Safety & Health Plan (SSHP) and conduct daily safety briefings and inspections.
+ Support the Quality Control Manager in implementing the USACE/NAVFAC Three-Phase QC Process.
+ Track and document inspections, testing, material verification, and punch-list items.
+ Maintain red-line as-builts and coordinate updates with the Project Engineer.
+ Track daily progress, manpower, quantities, constraints, and delays; maintain accurate daily logs and reports.
+ Validate subcontractor progress quantities for billing and support cost-to-complete updates.
+ Identify field issues impacting schedule, cost, or quality and escalate with recommended solutions.
+ Maintain Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) compliance for all field documentation.
+ Ensure proper integration of all scopes and coordinate with the Project Engineer for RFIs and design clarifications.
+ Support Print Ops functions with printer mobilization and coordination of printed wall installation.
+ Assist with acceptance testing, mock-ups, and commissioning required by USACE/NAVFAC for new technologies.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of Superintendent or field leadership experience on DoD, USACE, NAVFAC, or large commercial projects.
+ Strong knowledge of field sequencing, site logistics, and construction means and methods.
+ Familiarity with UFC / UFGS requirements, EM 385-1-1, USACE/NAVFAC QC programs, and FAR/DFARS basics.
+
Experience with Procore, P6, and typical field documentation tools.
+ Strong communication skills and capability of interacting with government inspectors and installation personnel.
+ Secret clearance eligibility.
+ Willingness to work at remote or secure sites with extended travel.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Preferred NAVFAC CQM-C certification.
+ OSHA-30 or EM 385-1-1 Safety Certification.
+
Experience with innovative construction systems.
+ Prior military service or experience working on secure federal installations.
Work Environment
The role requires working at remote or secure sites, involving extended travel. It necessitates managing sewer, water main, electrical, and road work while ensuring compliance with safety and security standards.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shreveport, LA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $63.00/hr.
