Senior Geotechnical Engineer / Team Lead
Location:
Remote, SC based (with occasional travel across SC, VA & PA)
Salary: $145,000 - $170,000 (depending on experience)
We're partnering with a fast-growing engineering consultancy looking to bring on a Senior Geotechnical Engineer / Team Lead to support a strong and expanding pipeline of federal and commercial projects.
This is a leadership opportunity within a smaller, agile business where you'll have genuine influence, both technically and commercially, while enjoying a flexible, collaborative environment and clear progression.
The OpportunityIn this role, you'll take ownership of projects from proposal through delivery, while leading a team and helping to grow both capability and client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:- Leading proposal development and cost estimation for geotechnical projects
- Managing field investigations (SPT borings, CPTs, DMTs, rock coring, overwater and land-based work)
- Interpreting geotechnical data and delivering detailed engineering analysis
- Overseeing design work including:
- Bearing capacity and settlement analysis (with a focus on soft soils)
- Shallow and deep foundation design
- Slope stability and retaining structures
- Ground improvement and liquefaction analysis
- Reviewing and producing technical reports, specifications, and design deliverables
- Managing project budgets, schedules, and QA/QC processes
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development
- Driving client engagement and contributing to business development and growth
- 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence
- Strong technical expertise across foundation design, slope stability, and ground improvement
- Experience using software such as Geo Studio (SLOPE/W) and SLIDE
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Desirable: MSc in Geotechnical Engineering

Familiarity with FEM/FDM modelling - Desirable:
Programming experience (e.g. Python or MATLAB) - Desirable:
Strong technical writing capabilities
