ASML Electronics Design Engineer

Leads the definition, specification and validation of highly reliable electronic board designs for EUV light source. Participates in cross-functional teams and works with architects and other engineering groups to conceptualize, design and develop boards into product. Contributes to roadmap planning, promotes innovation and incorporates relevant new technologies and methodologies. Provides guidance to the team with different technologies including SRIO, PCIe, PLC, Ethernet, photo-detectors, differential signaling, wideband circuits;

high speed embedded computing, VHDL, distributed signal acquisition, and signal integrity in a noisy environment. Assists management with schedule and project planning activities.

• Design, develop, document, and maintain analog and digital board-level hardware and electrical modules.
• Serve as Electronic Development representative within cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead technical decision-making, including trade-off studies and architecture definition with stakeholders.
• Act as technical lead, including oversight of outsourced/co-development activities.
• Define work breakdown structures, effort estimates, and support project planning activities.
• Ensure design quality, compliance, and reliability through reviews and risk mitigation practices.
• Contribute to product roadmaps and continuous improvement of electronics platforms.
• Drive root cause analysis and resolution of reliability and performance issues
• Review system specifications and ensure alignment with hardware design implementations.
• Coach and mentor team members; transfer knowledge to production and service engineering.

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Master's Degree preferred.
• Must have 8 years of relevant experience.
• Requires design experience with relevant technologies.
• Requires Analog and Digital Design circuit design fundamentals.
• Knowledge of high speed communications protocols.
• Demonstrated understanding of signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) fundamentals.
• Experience designing for EMC, with first-time-right outcomes.
• Attention to detail, Quality focused.
• Systematic analytical problem solving skills.
• Strong troubleshooting experience.
• Thorough understanding of design documentation traceability from concept, design and development, test and release for production.
• Experience with printed circuit board layout desired.

• Strong communication skills with a pragmatic, "first-time-right" mindset.
• Proven ability to lead, take ownership, and operate decisively in complex environments.
• Deep hands-on experience in analog and digital board design, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Expertise with high-speed protocols and interfaces (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet, SRIO, DDR, SPI, I2C).
• Solid understanding of signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and high-speed design constraints.
• Experience with PCB design tools, schematic capture, simulation, and layout guidelines.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills at board, module, and system levels using lab equipment.
• Knowledge of EMC/EMI, reliability methods (MTBF, HALT, ALT), and robust design practices.
• Strong documentation skills (technical specs, test plans, reports) and version control processes.
• Structured problem-solving mindset with ability to analyze data and drive actionable solutions.

• This position is located on-site in San Diego, CA. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.
• A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees working in roles conducive to remote work (up to two days a week).
• Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
