Civil Engineer
Job Description
This Civil Engineer role focuses on designing and reviewing a wide range of site and civil projects, including stormwater management, detention basins, land development, and infrastructure rehabilitation. You will prepare technical reports and permit applications, ensure development plans comply with local ordinances, and support permitting efforts with state and local agencies. The position also offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team in a growing, established firm.
Responsibilities
+ Design stormwater management systems, including detention basins and related drainage infrastructure, for municipal and land development projects.
+ Plan and design infrastructure rehabilitation projects, ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards and best practices.
+ Prepare detailed technical reports that clearly present design assumptions, calculations, findings, and recommendations.
+ Prepare and submit complete and accurate permit applications to state and local agencies, including NJDEP and NJDOT.
+ Review subdivision plans and utility plans submitted by developers for approval, ensuring they meet engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
+ Review development plans for conformance with local ordinances, including subdivision and land development regulations.
+ Perform drafting, design, and engineering calculations for site and civil projects, including grading and layout of site plans.
+ Develop and assemble complete drawing sets, ensuring all design details, notes, and references are accurate and coordinated.
+ Use Civil 3D to create and modify models, drawings, and design documents for municipal and land development projects.
+ Collaborate with internal team members across multiple disciplines to coordinate designs and resolve technical issues.
+ Mentor and review the work of junior engineers, providing guidance, feedback, and quality control on their designs and calculations.
+ Support project delivery by managing priorities, meeting deadlines, and communicating progress and issues to the project team.
Essential Skills
+ Extensive experience in the engineering industry, with approximately 15 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
+ in civil engineering design, including site and land development projects.
+ Proficiency with Civil 3D for use on municipal and land development projects in New Jersey.
+ Demonstrated experience in stormwater design, including drainage systems and detention basins.
+
Experience with grading design and preparation of grading plans for site and civil projects.
+ Ability to prepare and review technical reports, design calculations, and engineering documentation.
+ Experience reviewing subdivision and utility plans for compliance with local ordinances and engineering standards.
+ Knowledge of subdivision and land development regulations and their application to development projects.
+ Experience preparing permit applications and supporting documentation for NJDEP and NJDOT.
+ Professional Engineer (PE) credential or strong experience working at a professional engineer level.
+ Ability to mentor and review the work of junior engineers, providing technical oversight and guidance.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders.
+ High attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
