Distribution Design Engineer II

What You’ll Do- Design and plan electric and gas distribution systems, balancing safety, reliability, cost, and environmental considerations while applying industry standards such as NESC.
- Develop comprehensive overhead and underground distribution work packages, including cable, conduit, and residential systems, using CAD and GIS tools.
- Perform field engineering and site assessments to gather data, validate conditions, identify conflicting utilities, and define project requirements.
- Execute engineering calculations (structural, guying, cable pulling, fault current, and protective coordination) and resolve moderately complex technical challenges.
- Collaborate with project managers and cross‑functional teams to deliver projects on time, communicate technical solutions, and support continuous improvement through post‑construction reviews.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial) with 2+ years of electric distribution design experience.
- Knowledge of distribution design principles, standards, and tools, including CAD (AutoCAD/Micro Station) and GIS platforms (ESRI preferred).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
- Willingness to work in a hybrid environment (remote, office, and field) and use a personal vehicle for project‑related travel.
- Master’s degree in Engineering and experience with tools such as O‑Calc, BOUD, or similar.
- Hands‑on experience with engineering calculations, GIS mapping, and work management or estimating software.
- Competitive pay: $35.00 – $45.00/hr.
