Role Description

This full-time Mechanical Engineer role is a hybrid position based in Waipahu, HI, with the flexibility to work from home part of the time. The Mechanical Engineer will participate in the design, analysis, and specification of mechanical systems for building and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include developing and reviewing CAD drawings, performing calculations, preparing technical reports, and supporting machine or system design activities.

The role involves coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams, assisting in project planning and scheduling, and communicating with stakeholders to address technical issues. The Mechanical Engineer may also support research and development efforts, contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, and provide field support such as site visits, inspections, and construction administration as needed.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and HVAC or building systems design.
  • Experience in Machine Design and mechanical component/system specification for building, industrial, or infrastructure applications.
  • Proficiency with Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) for creating and reviewing mechanical drawings and models.
  • Project Management skills, including organizing tasks, tracking progress, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and meeting deadlines.
  • Research and Development (R&D) capabilities to evaluate new technologies, materials, and methods, and to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field; EIT or PE licensure in Hawaiʻi or ability to obtain is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, manage time independently, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and present findings to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with relevant mechanical and building codes, standards, and industry best practices is a plus.
