Job Description
Responsible for planning, design and implementation of drainage improvement, stormwater management, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling projects, with a focus on transportation sector projects. Work closely with project managers and under the supervision of a licensed engineer to perform the following duties:
- Develop comprehensive drainage designs for DOT and municipal projects using Micro Station and Open Roads Designer (ORD), ensuring compliance with applicable standards, details and specifications, including drainage manual standards, QA/QC protocols, and permitting requirements.
- Develop drainage and stormwater plans and details.
- Prepare drainage plan sets to be submitted as standalone construction-level plans or incorporated with civil packages for transportation projects.
- Prepare Storm Water Management Reports and other technical reports.
- Prepare culvert/bridge hydrologic and hydraulic studies.
- Assist in development of project scopes of work and cost estimates.
- Coordinate drainage designs with other civil/transportation disciplines including roadway, structures, utilities, and MOT.
Position duties require extensive utilization of Open Roads Designer (StormCAD), Micro Station, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, PCSWMM, FHWA HY-8, and Hydraulic Toolbox. The position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina and requires approximately 15% travel to client project sites within the East South Central and South Atlantic regions. Employees may work from home up to two days per week, subject to change at any time.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, including coursework in hydrology and water resources.
- Minimum two years of experience in a similar position.
