Special Hazards Water Based Systems Designer
Fike Corporation is a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment.
Job SummaryThe Special Hazards Water Based Systems Designer will provide support with initial suppression system layouts and sizing calculations up through the generation of full drawing sets and submittal guides that complement Fike's engineered protection systems. The primary focus of the role is to design special hazards water based suppression systems with an opportunity to cross‑over into other fire and explosion protection system types.
The position will work in conjunction with commercial sales functions of Fike's distribution network, channel partners, and internal design‑build project support team within the Fike Solutions Group.
Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Hydratec HydraCAD, FireCAD and other hydraulic / flow calculations and formulas.
- Density/Area, K‑Factor, Pressure, and Flow/Hydraulic Calculations
- Site & Floor Plans with Piping Isometrics
- Product Component List and Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Submittal Guide

Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, sit and use hands. Must be able to travel domestically within the US and internationally (at times). Work setting may include a hybrid schedule of in‑office and possible remote work.
Required QualificationsEquivalent combination of educational courses and/or work experience or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering Program. Two or more years of experience in fire sprinkler systems or mechanical drafting and design. NICET level achieved in Special Hazards Systems is a plus. NFSA – Sprinkler Layout Technical Training Certificate, or other recognized fire sprinkler systems educational course certificate.
Proficiency in the following software and business system tools is suggested:
Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Hydratec HydraCAD, FireCAD, Salesforce, Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, Revu Bluebeam, and other Project Management system platforms.
