Job Description

The Electrical Engineer designs and implements electrical control systems for custom automation projects, working with a high degree of independence.

This role will start off with someone coming in and creating electrical schematics while a few employees are out on leave - this can transition into a full time electrical controls engineering role, but base line they need 5 months of electrical schematics design work done.

Responsibilities

+ Design electrical control systems for automation projects

+ Plan and execute project deliverables

+ Develop PLC and HMI programs for machine control systems

+ Support manufacturing and in-house system builds

+ Provide light field support and troubleshooting for installed automotive test systems

+ Create and maintain complete electrical print sets

+ Develop and maintain accurate bills of material (BOMs) for assigned projects

Essential Skills

+ BSEE OR equivalent experience with emphasis on controls or systems design 5+ years

+ Hands on experience with VFD drives

+ PLC programming exposure

+ 5+ years of experience in the industry

Work Environment

This role focuses on supporting complex diagnostic, inspection, and test systems in high-performance environments where safety and reliability are essential. The position does not require travel, allowing you to work primarily from a fixed location.

There is potential for a hybrid work schedule once trust is established and performance is demonstrated, providing a balance between on-site and remote work.

You will use tools such as AutoCAD or EPLAN for electrical design. The work involves close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams in a professional, detail-oriented setting that values quality, accountability, and teamwork.

This is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $110000.00/hr.
