Job Overview

Responsibilities- Review permits, plans, and specifications to apply contract requirements during inspections.
- Evaluate work and materials, accepting or rejecting them based on contract standards.
- Inspect erosion and sedimentation devices and document findings in written reports.
- Monitor blasting activities for compliance with approved plans and safety regulations.
- Record daily project activities, quantities, and conditions using computers and digital tools.
- Investigate mine‑related complaints and prepare written reports with observations and recommendations.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours:
7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break. - Telework:
You may work from home full‑time, reporting to the Cambria District Office as needed. A securely configured high‑speed internet connection and an approved Pennsylvania work location are required. Preference for telework may change over time. - This is a field position covering project sites in the following Western Pennsylvania counties:
Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Elk, Fayette, Indiana, Jefferson, Somerset, Washington, and Westmoreland. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin at an annual salary of $45,907 (before taxes).
- Two years of construction inspection experience on heavy construction projects such as dams, flood control projects, mine reclamation projects, treatment plants, hazardous waste projects, airports, highways or utility installations.
- Or an Associate Degree in Building Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
- Or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree are considered to meet the educational requirements.
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
- Must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
