Job SummaryIn this role, you will be responsible for directing the cost engineering and cost analysis/control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements which require a high degree of technical skill. You will prepare the project financials, review cost trends, develop and implement project requirements for cost control, and train the cost team. Your detailed analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.
MajorResponsibilities
- Develops and implements project requirements for cost control in accordance with established Bechtel and client contractual requirements, objectives, and procedures.
- Establishes format and content of summaries and reconciliations, including segregation of cost according to level of confidence and identified areas of risk.
- Monitors for accuracy and ensures the timely and competent performance of all cost control activities.
- Reviews and analyses comparisons of scope, quantities, performance, and cost data.
- Reviews identified cost trends for cost effectiveness and suggesting alternatives when appropriate. Prepares the project's Project Financial Status Report.
- Prepares and supports cost data analysis for Tax, Treasury and PwC. Interfaces with designated Bechtel management and client counterparts for cost presentations.
- Maintains open communications with other organizations to support cost engineering analysis and control activities.
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
- Experience and demonstrated skill in directing cost engineering functions in the field and the home office.
- Experience and demonstrated skill in establishing criteria for cost management activities.
- Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems driven by data.
- Advanced knowledge of Bechtel's financial reporting systems (CFAR), controller account codes, cost management system (Ecosys), and the digital supply chain system (DSCS).
- Advanced knowledge of Bechtel's standard cost reporting including the PFSR, QURR, CoCo, PSERV etc.
- Must be able to independently provide guidance, training and coaching to junior and mid-grade Cost Engineers with multiple backgrounds and experience.
- Must have excellent communications and presentation skills to combine sound analytical cost engineering principles with the ability to summarize, reach appropriate conclusions, and present to management teams.
- Demonstrated flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities.
