Job Overview
CIMA+’s Energy & Resources team is a key player in the energy transition. The Technician will assist in clean energy projects related to hydroelectric facilities, working on multidisciplinary engineering projects such as refurbishment of turbine-generator sets, auxiliary services, and automation in Hydro‑Québec power plants.
Primary Responsibilities Testing & Commissioning- Design electrical power systems and layouts for hydroelectric power plant projects.
- Participate in development of electrical systems, including schematics and layout drawings for switch gear such as medium‑voltage cabinets, high‑voltage switch gear, and electrical distribution centers.
- Prepare project deliverables such as plan views, elevations, detail drawings, miscellaneous layouts, and schematics.
- Perform or validate calculations for equipment sizing and power cable gauge selection.
- Prepare control and protection engineering using 2D (AutoCAD) and CAD (E3) software for turbine‑generator set systems, genset instrumentation, power plant control network, and remote control of discharge valves and water intakes.
- Participate in the development of electrical systems for control and protection, including wiring diagrams, device connections, assembly drawings, material lists, and cable lists.
- Design DC power systems, one‑line diagrams, battery capacity calculations, and connection drawings for chargers, batteries, and inverters.
- Prepare quotations for equipment manufacture and on‑site installation.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and technicians on technical tasks.
- Participate in project coordination meetings and design reviews.
- Coordinate work with other engineering disciplines such as structural, civil, auxiliary mechanical, heavy mechanical, building engineering, and architecture.
- Participate in site surveys and provide site assistance and start‑up services as needed.
- College diploma (DEC) in electrical engineering technologies.
- 0–5 years of experience.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution, control, and protection is an asset.
- Experience in electrical systems design is an asset.
- Experience with AutoCAD, E3, or similar software is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Fluency in spoken and written French; basic professional English.
- Autonomous, resourceful, and project‑oriented.
