Job SummaryMazzetti's Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) Consulting Engineering Practice designs high-performance, resilient, and sustainable solutions for the built environment, with a focus on Healthcare and Infrastructure projects. The team combines technical excellence with a collaborative, client-focused approach to deliver exceptional outcomes. We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Designer or Senior Electrical Engineer Project Manager to join our Southern California team, based in the Orange County / Los Angeles area.
This role leads complex healthcare engineering projects from pursuit through construction, leveraging advanced electrical design expertise to deliver technical solutions. The successful candidate will manage project scope, schedule, budget, client relationships, and multidisciplinary teams while remaining actively engaged in electrical system design and technical decision-making.
- Project Management & Client Leadership:
Manage electrical engineering projects from planning through construction; serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders; develop project scopes, work plans, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and execution strategies; lead multidisciplinary project teams across multiple Mazzetti offices; monitor scope, schedule, budget, quality, and profitability; identify and resolve project risks; facilitate project meetings and coordinate communication;
ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to client expectations. - Electrical Design & Technical Leadership:
Lead design and documentation of electrical systems for complex healthcare facilities; perform analyses, load studies, arc flash/coordination studies, and system evaluations; prepare or oversee calculations, equipment selections, specifications, system layouts, and construction documents; design and review power distribution, emergency power, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, and related building systems; review drawings and calculations for quality and code compliance; apply healthcare engineering expertise to support project delivery. - Construction Administration:
Support projects during construction by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, site visits, and resolving technical issues; coordinate with contractors, owners, and project teams to ensure successful delivery. - Business Development:
Support project pursuits through proposals, interviews, and technical discussions; build and maintain strong client relationships; identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients; represent Mazzetti professionally in the Southern California healthcare market. - Team Leadership &
Collaboration:
Mentor engineers and designers; support collaboration across disciplines; participate in quality control reviews and continuous improvement; foster knowledge sharing and technical excellence within the Electrical discipline.
Hybrid position based in the Orange County / Los Angeles, CA area, with home-based work, client site visits throughout Southern California, and occasional presence in one of our Southern California offices as needed for project collaboration and team-building activities.
Travel:
Approximately 10–15% travel, primarily within Southern California based on project assignments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
